David T. Schloesser, M.D.David T. Schloesser, M.D.

Dr. Schloesser was born and raised in eastern Kansas, with the exception of a few years of his childhood, when his parents worked overseas in Uganda, Kenya, and Australia.  His education was characterized by a mix of private and public schools throughout, even homeschooling for a brief time when overseas in France.  Dr. Schloesser started out at the local University but transferred to Williams College to receive his B.A.  He subsequently returned to Kansas to complete his M.D. at the University of Kansas, in addition to completing his internship at the same location.

An interest in neurosciences was firmly established at the University of Kansas School of Medicine with excellent mentors in neurology, neurosurgery, and neuropathology. Dr. Schloesser chose to pursue neurology and trained at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.  He was subsequently board certified.

Dr. Schloesser has a particular interest in neuroimaging dating to medical school.  This may run in the family, as his brother is a neuroradiologist and neurointerventional radiologist in Salt Lake City.  In fact, there is a greater family interest in medicine with another sister practicing as a child psychiatrist, both parents physicians, a maternal grandfather a dentist and another maternal ancestor a Dublin trained physician and Union POW for a time during the Civil War.

After practicing for 5 years in Missoula, Montana, Dr. Schloesser moved to Bend to join the single specialty practice now known as Neurology of Bend.  During his time in Bend, Dr. Schloesser has assisted with the installation of a high field strength MRI into the practice.  Additionally, he has been certified in MRI and CT by the American Society of Neuroimaging.  His interests include the intersection of imaging with clinical neurology, in addition to all aspects of clinical neurology.  Personal interests include living as a disciple of Christ, family life, the application of faith to medicine, reading, skiing, bicycling, running, guitar, and studio art, in addition to a number of other pursuits.
